As of 2015, Most trek guides take the Kareri Village route to Kareri lake, bit now a days there is a Village road under construction till Kareri Village, Road has already reached about 75% completion, Transport is available till the last cliff. Kareri Village & Lake Trek is by far one of the most popular treks. The Kareri Lake is situated North West of Kareri Village and is at the foot of the Minkiani Pass. Day 01: Stobari 1700m to Ghera Village and Kareri Village 2175m - 14 Kms

Stobari is the trail head and is 4 Kms North West of McLeodganj. Holiday Travel will make arrangements to drop you at Satobary. The trail to Kareri village will start from Satobari, The trail is easy and moderately steep in parts. Stobary to Ghera Village trek is very steep and almost 500 meters descent. You can have a break in Ghera Village and proceed to Kareri Village through the well marked trail and the steep parts have steps cut into the trail for easier access.Now a Days there is a road building upto Kareri Village, Still the work has not been completed by year 2014, however you can get the ride upto last point. After Dropping from the last point, the trek to Kareri Village is only of about 2 hours.

Day 02: Kareri village 2175m to Lioti 2915m - 15 Kms

Reach Kareri Village by afternoon, In Kareri Village - Staying arrangements are made in the Forest Guest House or in the Chowkidar (Watchman's hut), Or you can pitch your tent next to watchman's hut. Rest of the day you can have a trip to the Kareri Village, Meet Villagers and talk to them, talk to kids studying in the next door school. Night Stay in the Kareri vilage, Enjoy the great dinner provided by Holiday Travel. Holiday Travel can also make your trip memorable by providing you with country wild chicken with Beer & Whiskey also. Kareri Village is the most picturesque village perched on high mountain, Actually Kareri Village offers you breathtaking views of the dhauladhar ranges and People here are very innocent.

Day 03: Kareri Village to Lioti 2915m and to  Kareri Lake 3200m - 20 Kms

Next Day morning, we will proceed to Kareri lake via Lioti, Which is an old Gaddi camping place and is an isolated spot deep in the Dhauladhars. To reach this point we climb all the way from Kareri Village. At points it gets steep but for the most part it is a moderate climb. We can camp on the banks of a mountain stream.This last stage is a climb in high altitude and can be slow. The terrain changes from forest to alpine and we camp at the Temple on the banks of the Kareri Lake. Depending upon the time of arrival, we take a short walk up to the base of the Minkiani Pass which has permanent ice flows and spectacular views. Night Stay at Kareri Lake in Camps and Food/Drinks all taken well care by Holiday Travel Team.

Day 04: Kareri lake 3200m to Kareri Village 2175m - 20 Kms

Wake up early in the morning, we can take an alternate route to Kareri Village. Night Stay in the Kareri Village. Today is the celebration time to enjoy your succcessful trek with holiday travel team.Night Stay in Camp in Kareri Village

Day 05: Kareri Village 2175m to Ghera 1585m - 8 Kms

An easy downhill walk to the road head till we reach Ghera Village, Here we have option to go back to Satobary or take taxi back to McLeodganj. The drive is around 30 minutes by taxi.

Optional Trek back through the Khari Behi, Balh Village and Ghalu Temple to Mcleodganj.

Day 05 :- Holiday Travel Offers alternate picturesque trek through Khari Behi, Balh Village to the Ghalu Temple, From Ghalu temple you will be taken by Taxi back to Mcleodganj. We suggest you to go for this optional trek back.For this trek, we will make you trek thorugh remote villages on the adjacent mountains of Kareri Khas, we will cross the Khari Behi Village, which can be reached after about 2 hours trek. There is a village shop in Khari Bahi which sells English Wine, Beers, You can sit in this shop in Khari Behi & enjoy the Cool Beer sitting in its front ( So we can say that Khari Behi has a pub at 2000 metrers). There is also a statue of Indian Monkey God Hanuman next to this shop. The Shop is managed by an attractive Village Girl. There is also Village School in Khari Behi.From Khari Behi, you start the descent down to cross the Stream.

After crossing the stream, the place for the camping comes, Here we take break for the Lunch and Drinks. The View here is breathtaking and most relaxing with mountains on all sides. You can sleep here for Siesta if you like, you might be occasionaly waken up with wild life noise.

Now the ascent starts to the top of the mountain, the ascent is approx 500 meters and it is a steep climb passing trough the dense green forest, But do not worry, Holiday Travel team will assist you fully on the trek. Once you reach the top of the mountain, the view is excellent, you will see the town of Naddi on the next hill

From the Mountain top, It is an easy half an hour trek to the Balh Village. Balh vilage is covered extensively in our destination section. From balh Village, you can either trek to Naddi Village or Trek to Ghalu Temple to be taken back to the Mcleodganj.

Important GuideLines for the Indrahar Trekkkers :-

•Always wait for the Guide during Trek, Please do not go too much ahead of your group & stay in the Group.
•Always listen to the Guide and his advises, Guide may advise to halt the trek, Delay the trek, Or Push Ahead with the Trek as Environment conditions change very fast in the Dhauladhar Ranges.
•Always be very careful while on trek as Indian Himalayan Conditions detiorate rapidly.
•There are no Toilet Facility available in the trek ( Though limited toilet arrangements are available at Triund)
•You need to go and releive yourself outside behind some rocks, kindly cover the toilet with snow or soil in order not to attract predators.
•All Food needs to be carried by the porters and Cooks, Hence kindly advise in advance the food Choice
•Normally it is advised to go with Vegetarian menu. The Vegetarian Menu Choices are as below
•Morning Breakfast :- Porriage with Milk, Omlette, Bread, Tea, Scrambled Eggs , Or Maggi Noodles
•Afternoon Lunch :- Rice, Dal, Vegetable Stew, Bread, Boiled Eggs, Indian Pudding
